Sat 8/2 Spartans @ Yankees (Game 1, 7:30 Robinson Lane) Yankees Win 3-2
Jake Slate went 6 1/3 innings, striking out 11 Spartans while picking up the win. Michael Giustino and Alexander Melcher accounted for all 3 runs batted in with 2 hits each. Mark Schaper threw the ball well for Sullivan, only allowing 2 earned runs but picked up the loss. Dave Babcock had 2 hits and an RBI for the Spartans.
Sun 8/3 Yankees @ Spartans (Game 2, 2:00 Sulivan CC) Yankees Win 7-6, Advance to Finals
Evan Coon picked up the victory with 5 1/3 innings of sparkling relief while helping the Yankees advance to the finals. He allowed only one earned run while fanning 7. Ron Bracchi and Michael Orefice led the offense with 2 hits and 2 RBI's apiece. Dom Ruscetti, Derek Blume and Brian Aponte all picked up 3 hits for the Spartans while Vinnie Malzahn knocked in 2 runs. Matt Berger took the loss in relief.
Cobras @ Tigers (Game 1, 2:00 Dutchess CC) Cobras Win 2-0
Zach Telgheder threw a complete game shutout in leading the Cobras to their Game 1 victory. He only allowed 3 hits while striking out 7 Tigers, and also picked up a hit, knocking in a run. Jeff Curtis knocked in the other Cobra run. Tiger hurler Jon Shanks pitched very well but picked up the tough loss. In 7 innings, he only allowed 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 9. Mike Carozza had 2 of the 3 Tiger hits including a double.
Mon 8/4 Tigers @ Cobras (Game 2, 6:00 Valley Central HS) Tigers Win 14-4
Alan Kartholl (4 RBI) and Thomas Marcojohn (2 RBI) went deep, leading a 13 hit Tiger attack. Erik Hartling and Joe Panik chipped in with 2 hits each. Scott Hartling fanned 10 Cobras through 6 innings in picking up the win. Jim Schoenleber had 2 hits and 3 RBI's for the Cobras.
Tue 8/5 Cobras @ Tigers (Game 3, 7:00 Robinson Lane) Cobras Win 5-1, Advance to Finals
Mike Tornatore went the distance, pitching the Cobras into the finals. Tornatore and Sean Stewart (3 RBI) both took balls out of the park with Rich Whitney picking up 2 hits. Joe Panik, Dustin Loussedes, and Alan Kartholl had 2 hits apiece for the Tigers. Bobby Coyle collected the loss.

Fri 8/8 Cobras @ Yankees (Game 1, 8:00 Robinson Lane) Yankees Win 3-0
Winning pitcher Stephen Orefice threw 5 1/3 innings and had 2 hits as the Yankees grabbed the early series lead. Al Melcher singled in the first run and Dan Slate knocked in the final 2 with a clutch 2 out double just inside the 1B bag. Mike Giustino also had 2 hits for the Yankees. The Cobras had runners in scoring position in a couple of innings but failed to capitalize. RHP Zach Telgheder was tagged with the loss.
Sat 8/9 Yankees @ Cobras (Game 2, 5:00 Valley Central HS) Cobras win 7-6
The Cobras knotted up the series at one with Jeff Curtis picking up the win with 2 innings of relief of starter, Rob Pagan. Curtis also knocked in 2 runs with a 2 out single. Mike Murphy had 2 hits and 2 RBI's; Vinnie Maimone also notched 2 hits. For the Yankees, Mike Sciacchitano led the way with 3 hits and an RBI. Southpaw Jake Slate took the loss.
Sun 8/10 Cobras @ Yankees (Games 3, 8:00 Robinson Lane) Yankees Win 12-8
Kevin Paino hit a first inning grand slam, leading the Yankees to a 2-1 series advantage. Paino (3 hits, 7 RBI), Dan Slate (3 hits, 1 RBI), Justin Gray (2 hits, 2 RBI), Mike Sciacchitano (2 hits) and Al Melcher (2 hits) led the Yankees attack. Steve Murnane went 5 1/3 innings to pick up the win. For the Cobras, Sean Stewart and Mike Corletta had 2 hits and 2 RBI each.
Wed 8/13 Yankees @ Cobras (Game 4, 8:00 Robinson Lane) Yankees Win 2-1
With both pitchers locked in a classic pitching duel, The Yankees took advantage of 3 Cobra errors in the 7th inning to score 2 unearned runs with 2 outs and overcome a 1-0 deficit. The Cobras' lone run came in the 3rd inning when Sean Stewart (2 hits) scored on a Yankee error after picking up a 1 out base hit. Cobra RHP Zack Telgheder made the 1 run lead hold up until the 7th by turning in a supurb performance (7 IP, 0 earned runs, 5 hits, 10 K's, 2 BB's). Yankee LHP Jake Slate also tossed an outstanding game (7 IP, 0 earned runs, 5 hits, 7 K's, 1 BB). Orlando Credendino delivered a clutch 2 out base hit in the 7th knocking in the go ahead run for the Yankees. Phil Riggio collected 2 hits for the Yankees.
